Game Making - Schadenfreude

This week on term 2 we were making our own games. There were 3 sports; Basketball, Football, and Netball. Within these 3 sports, we could use some of the mechanics that are included in these sports. Anyways our game was called "Schadenfreude," and the object of our game was to score 10 points the fastest or scoring the most out of all the teams. There are 4 teams with 2-3 players in each team. The equipment we used was a dodgeball and cones. To score you have to kick one or the two ball to any of the goal except for yours. One point a throw goal, which is throwing the ball in the goal. Then two point for kicking the ball in the goal. You can win by scoring 10 points or getting the most points out of all the other teams. Lastly the rules,

You may pass the ball by kicking the ball to your teammates, or you pass the ball like how you normally pass the ball in basketball and netball.

However, you can only score by kicking the ball into the goal post or by throwing.

The balls always start in the middle of the court, which is half court.

You are not allowed to hit other players during the game, that means no pushing, no tackling, no kicking the opponents, otherwise, if this does happen, the player who did the “foul” will be taken out of the game until the end of the round.

The goals are placed in each of the corners.

If one team gets the ball out, same rules applied which will be settled by a jumble. That those teams cannot participate in.

No boundaries.

Their feedback from us was to fix the number of players who are in a team because there were too many people in each team.

After the ball have been scored/have been past the goal a point is given to the team who has struck it to any of the goals beside from their own; then that ball will not be used until the second ball has passed a goal and in which case the game will start again with the 2 balls in the middle.

You cannot hold the ball with two hands simultaneously, you can dribble the ball or dribble it with your feet to the goal in which you may kick or throw it to the goal. You may not also throw or kick the ball above the goalie’s head.

After we made the description of our game, we paired up with another group to teach each other the games that we made. The other group that we paired up had football and netball as a game. But there was a little twist on it. Their game included an obstacle and a spider walk in their game. However, their game was pretty fun. Their rules were pretty clear, although there was a small problem which they were able to fix.

How to make a quality comment 2019!

As you might have known I already did a blogpost about, making a quality comment. However that was last year ago, and it can be really hard to find. So here is another blogpost. This is just like the other one (if you remember), although it has a little more explanations of what positive, thoughtful and helpful mean. Anyways here is the slideshow.

 

CIP Gardening (Community Impact Project)

This week for CIP we had 3 choices on what we could focus on. The 3 choices were: Gardening, Compost, and Jam. For gardening, we were going to focus on helping the community by taking the weeds out of their garden, it also sounded pretty fun and it's really good to help out the community. On the other hand, compost the focus was to mix the compost up so it breaks down easier. We can also plant our seeds in there. The focus on jam was to sell the jam to other people for $3 dollars. The jam is made out of plums, the plums were picked out on the tree just right next to our school.

Anyways that was our 3 choices, my friends and chose to go do gardening. We chose gardening because we wanted to help out the community. It was pretty fun but also very messy. It was messy because it had rained last night and the grass is wet, and the dirt is also wet. Which almost turns into mud. My friends and I were very cautious trying to not get our jacket and uniform dirty. But all of us did a good job taking out most of the weeds in the garden. However, this is also the last day for CIP and I am a little sad that it's finished but at least I had a good time in CIP. 

Sports Hurumanu

This week we are working on P.E - sports hurumanu since art has finally finished. In P.E we learnt how to trap the ball in football. We didn't only learn how to trap a ball in P.E we also played a game of football. But it doesn't end there, we also did multi-sport. If you don't know what multi-sports is, it's basically a sport with other multiple sports. Anyways in our multi-sport, we had 3 different sports. Football, Basketball and Netball. We were split into 2 different teams. The team with P.E uniform and the team without P.E uniform. Our teachers would call out the sport we are playing and how many people are going to be playing. For example, Basketball - 5. That means that the sport we are going to play is Basketball with 5 people on each team. Anyways that is all that we did in P.E for now.

Height and Feet Measuring

THE FEET CAN MEASURE THE HEIGHT

The bones of the feet can tell a lot about a person. What do feet reveal about a person's height? Forensic anthropologists team up with law enforcers to help solve crimes.

Bones of the feet can reveal an interesting fact about an individual. Let's combine math with forensics to see how.

Aim:  To use forensic science techniques to measure the height of a criminal.

Material:

1. Metre Rulers 
2. A Foot
3. A Person
4. Flat Wall

Steps:

1.  Get a person that you can measure.
2.  Grab your metre rulers.
3.  Get the person to go to a flat surface(a wall)
4.  Record the person's height.
5. After that, lay their foot on a ruler and measure.

Findings:

Divide the length of each person's foot by his/her height. then multiply it by 100.

Forgery

Graphologists are forensic experts who look at handwriting.



Many things can be forged: artworks, money, writing, etc

Aim: To Analyse a signature using forensic science.

Material:

A pen / pencil
Tracing Paper
Writing paper
A ruler

Steps:

A. Top Of Letter Analysis

1. Sign your name on a sheet of writing paper and get someone else to try to copy it.
2. Place the tracing paper over both signatures and make a dot at the top point of each letter – for both signatures.
3. Join up the dots for both signatures to get two zigzag lines across the signatures. Are the lines the same?

B. Bottom of Letter Analysis

1. Put some fresh tracing paper over both signatures.
2. Put a dot at the bottom of each letter.
3. Join up the dots to make zig zag lines. Are the lines the same?

C. Slant Analysis

1. Put a fresh piece of tracing paper over both signatures.
2. Mark a vertical line down through the middle of each letter (using a ruler), slanting it in the same direction as
the letter.
3. Compare the set of lines for both signatures. 
What do they tell you?

Findings:

Top Letter Analysis Are the lines the same?		Yes, it's the same on the top letter.
Bottom Letter Analysis Are the lines the same?		Almost, but it's not even in the bottom letter.
Slant Analysis What are the slants telling you?		Almost.

Conclusion:









Activity: Get someone to try to forge your signature and then try both of these methods to analyse it.

Write up the findings based on the following questions.

  Writing an analysis of a friends forgery.

     

The size of the letters – all big, all small, mixed?
Where they dot the ’ i ‘– over the top or off to the left or off to the right, or not at all
How they cross their t – straight, angled up or down, where on the t stroke it is crossed
The slant of the letters (use a ruler) – forward, backward, upright, mixed
Are there breaks in words, or are all the letters in the words joined up
The length of stalks on y, q, p, below the lines – long or short

Brotherhood: The Completion

The end is near! For our film that is; the production of our film is coming to an end, finally! Currently, now we are on post-production which is editing all our 200+ shots. there have been many challenges over the time that we have been working on this project, ones that we had to push over and do. Though there were limitations on what we were able to do my partner and I are proud of what we have achieved through the course of this voyage in stop motion. There was a lot to be learned and a lot to be conquered; as if solving puzzles after puzzles until you get to the satisfying and gratifying finish that you've been aiming for.  We have experienced and learned a lot from doing and moving forward to this project which I'm sure we will be able to use in the rest of our lives, and a memorable feat that we have accomplished.
