Passion Projects!!

This Monday we started a new Kete topic called "Passion Projects." It is every Monday and Thursday, there were different topics to choose from. There was Maths Craft, Discovery, Stone Sculping, and lots more. We had to choose 3 different topics. My first choice was Stone Sculping, my second choice was Discovery. The last was sports. Then the day came, the first day of passion projects. I found out that I was in Discovery, I thought that I was going to be in Stone Sculping but I wasn't. But luckily I was with Axle, Khush, Ranit and other people. I felt relieved that I was with some of my friends, our teacher in discovery was Mr. Stock.  He was a funny science teacher. The four of us had different ideas on what we wanted to discover, here are some examples. Dissect an animal, make a telescope, make food, etc.

This Thursday, we did planning, ideas and lots of other stuff. My group and I wanted to make food, We wanted to know what dish goes well with mozzarella. We are still on work in progress and I will try to keep you updated with our new discovery. Bye!

Taking Care of your Taha Hinengaro

This term in kete we have been learning about "Taha Hinengaro." We focused on our mental health also called Taha Hinengaro, afterwards we had to make a DLO about it. We have placed tips for those who are feeling depressed. I hope you learnt something! Bye!

Philippines Culture Presentation (Late Post)

Last term at April 12. We had a topic in Kete about "Turangawaewae," which (A Place Were We Stand.." and also a lot of different cultures that our classmates had. Like when the Thai students presented their culture. But if your not from HHS, there were Thailanders that visited HHS, but they also left. They present us their dance, national song, music and other cool stuff. After that, near the end of the term 1, in week 9. Ms.Allan told us  about if we could share some of our culture, which is the Filipino.

But I really didn't knew about it, but Axle told us. So, in the middle of week 10 we started to create our speeches/presentation and prepare for our presentation, Mrs. Marijo, our Filipino/ESOL teacher helped us to make this possible. Without her help we would be just standing there and not even remember our dance. But things things turned good, so thanks for that Mrs.Marijo!

Any ways, we did a presentation while talking over it, we also presented a Filipino dance called Carinosa (Our National Dance) But it was supposed to be "Tinkling" but was recently changed to "Carinosa". Also we showed the rest of the class games that we play in the Philippines. We had lots doing it, but at the same time we were really nervous too, even though I already presented in front of lots of people before. Here are some of the pictures from last term, April 12.

Bob Ross's Creation! (Not Really...)

This term, in kete, we have been making street arts! But it had to be a cultural one. We also had to choose a quote, but I had to plan my art first. So I though I will going to make an ocean with rubbish that fish are eating and dying.. Then I got the quote "We Don't Want To Live In Trash, So Stop Making It One..." Afterwards, I had to start my rough draw. It wasn't really the best but it was just a bad copy, then time to do the good copy....

First I made an ocean where the boat will go in, secondly I searched boats in Google to find the perfect boat for the drawing. I then tried to copy the boat and also placed a gigantic fish on the sail. Afterwards, I made a little bit of rocks on the edges and then colored the ocean, rocks and the boat… But I thought that I could put more things beside the boat because there were still lots of space, so I made a giant sunset. After that, I drew some fishes and some cans, paper, all kinds of rubbish that I could think off. I also drew a coral in the rock just to have a little more details. Now I had to make the sky orange and a bit black, because it was a sunrise and it took so long to finish. But I have finally finished and I was quite proud of myself. Then of course my hands were tired...

I chose this message because I have heard that people throw their rubbish in oceans, or just leave it in streets, some causing it to float to the ocean. Fun Fact! I also just have found out there are 100,000 marine creatures died from plastic! It shocked me and I think also the other people that have found this message. But this is why I chose that message. Stuff To Know About The New Zealand Crest!

This term in our "kete" we have been learning about the New Zealand Flag, Athem and Crest. Our form teacher had to put us in groups. I was put in the Crest group. I was with Tyler, Tehya and Nykachia. At first I didn't really know what the Crest meant but our teacher explained it to us. After that we now had to do our plan for our crest, we just did questions for the crest like "how was it made." Then we all put it in the slide and answered all of our questions. We did lots of researching, and I really enjoyed reading some facts about it and I actually didn't even knew some of it. I have made 11 question for my group to share.

My group and I, think that we have done a really good work on our slide and I think that you will learn lots of it. Like that the New Zealand Crest is actually redesigned. There are lots more of things that we didn't put in our slide because we didn't have that much time and I thought that I thing it would be boring if  I made the very long.
