Hurumanu 6 | Power to the People | Parities and Leaders | Manifesto |
This time on power to the people we have finished all task given except doing the manifesto as well as the leader's speech, however, we did start on our manifesto but we can't finish it without our leader which is Axle. Unfortunately, Axle has to go to his chess tournament and the problem is. Our policies that we have made are in the paper where we did most of our work, and the paper is with Axle. Anyway, all we did for today was start on our manifesto, next week we will finish our manifesto as well as the leader's speech.
Wananga | Compliments |
For the past few weeks on our Wananga, we have been focusing on friendships and relationships. We have talked about how you can have a strong friendship as well as a strong relationship, however this week we focused on giving compliments. First of all, we talked about the difference within a surface compliment and a deep compliment.
A surface compliment is a compliment that mainly is focused on their appearance, on the other hand, a deep compliment is focused on their personality. We had to write compliments to everyone who is in our class and design our own compliment paper where everyone else can write compliments about us. Although we had to write the compliment for their personalities and what their traits are.
Anyway, while writing a compliment to the other students who are in my class I've considered deeper on what they do and what their personalities are. It also made me really satisfied and joyful to write a compliment to the person. After that, we had the chance to read our compliments which the other students have made for us. Reading the compliments that were given to me made me really pleased and grateful.
Here is the compliment paper that I have designed yet unfinished.

Voting Infographic | How to Vote |
Today on our power to the people subject, we were tasked to make an infographic about voting. There were 3 main parts we had to learn first before we make the infographic, the first part was about how we can enroll to make a vote. The second part was how to vote and lastly, the last part was how the votes were counted. Making the infographic was pretty easy to make and didn't really take me that long to finish. Anyway, when we finished making the infographic we then had to blog about it. We are blogging this so that other people who don't know about voting will have information on how it works.

End of Life Act | Referendum | 2020
This week on our power to the people subject, we are learning about the end of life referendum. It means, that the person's doctor or nurse practitioner giving them medication to relieve their suffering by bringing on death. This act is made to end a person's life to end their suffering, however, it is not the nurse's or doctor's choice but the person who is suffering makes the choice. If a person helps make the person who is suffering make the choice to end their life, they will be accused of manslaughter.
There are still some requirements that need to be met by the person who would want to end their life.
There are still some requirements that need to be met by the person who would want to end their life.
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Be a citied or permanent resident of New Zealand
- Suffer from a terminal illness that's likely to end their life within 6 months
- Have significant and ongoing decline in physical capability
- Experience unbearable suffering that cannot be eased
- Be able to make an informed decision about assisted dying.
There are also some pros and cons to this act:
Pro's
- People do not need to suffer
- A choice about your life and how it ends
- Hard decision taken away from loved ones
Con's
- Some doctors might not want to
- It's still suicide
- Goes against people's beliefs and values
What I would vote for:
I support this act because I think that the person should have the right to choose if he/she wants to end their suffering. Plus there are some strict requirements before they can make their decision meaning that not all people can make the choice to have someone assist kill them.

For this term on our people's power, we are focusing on our topic about the referendum. We simply focused on the cannabis part of the referendum. for of all what is cannabis. Cannabis, also known as marijuana is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant used primarily for medical, or recreational purposes.
The pro's and con's for this topic.
Pro's Con's
More tax Drug use can cause you to do bad thing's
Growing + supply Create drug addicts
Create more jobs Damage mental health
Know what you're buying Still can't stop illegal selling + growing
No fear of breaking the law
What would you vote for + why?
Honestly, I am not that sure whether to vote yes or no to this topic as I will not be a part of the people who are going to be using cannabis for different reasons. But I will vote yes to this topic, as I also know that this will be controlled well.

Hurumanu 6 | Protest Movements |The Springbok Tour Protest (1891) |
For our last Hurumanu 6 topic for this term, this time we focus on several types of protests. We have learned 2 different types of protest, 1 being a peaceful kind and a revolutionary kind of protest. Anyway, for this topic, we had to pick a topic of protest that happened some time in New Zealand. After we have chosen, we then have to answer different questions about the topic that we chose. I chose to do the springbok tour protest which happened in 1891, this topic was mostly about discrimination and what happened.
The Springbok Tour Protest (1891)
The Springbok Tour Protest (1891)
What happened: For 56 days throughout July, August and September 1981, New Zealanders were divided against each other in the largest civil disturbance seen since the 1951 waterfront debate. More than 150,000 people who took part in over 200 demonstrations in 28 centres, and 1500 were charged with offences originating from these protests.
Who was involved: Police, South Africa, United Nations, Labour Party, Norman Kirk.
Why were they protesting: The South African discrimination which has been in policy in South Africa was a cause of the protests against the Springbok tour in New Zealand in the 1980s.
What was the outcome: The anti-apartheid movement in South Africa was hartened by the events in New Zealand. Nelson Mandela (Former President of South Africa) remembered that when he was still in his prison cell at Robben Island and heard that the game in Hamilton had been cancelled as if the sun had come out.

Hurumanu 5 | Light | Reflection & Refraction | Refraction Through Lenses |
Aim: To investigate how different types of lenses refract light.
Equipment: Single slit ray slide, lightbox, concave lens, and convex lens.
Method:
Equipment: Single slit ray slide, lightbox, concave lens, and convex lens.
Method:
- Set up the lightbox, single-slit ray slide.
- Place the convex lens on the shaded area, place the lightbox at the top of the page and shine the single ray of light at the lens.
- Carefully trace the direction of the incoming and refracted rays.
- Repeat using the concave lens.
Conclusion:
When light passes through this type of lens, the rays all move away (diverge) from each other. One use of these lenses is in security peepholes in a door so that a person inside a room can see who is at the door without having to open it.
1. The lens described in the paragraph above is a concave lens.
When light passes through this type of lens, the rays all move towards (converge) each other. One use of these lenses is in a camera, to focus the light onto the film or digital sensor. Magnifying glasses also use this type of lens.
2. The lens described in the paragraph is a convex lens.
