English Creative Writing Assessment

A city that has endured little to non-sunshine, where people are constantly wandering with umbrellas upon their heads. With vehicles motionless in the streets. It was a typical day for the municipality of  'Kabukicho'. Its title was fitting, as it was a sleepless town indeed.

Dark churlish clouds amidst dark hues filled the sky along, with a heavy drumbeat echoing as it coughed out vast volumes of water. Skyscrapers arranged with enormous screens among vivid pigments; it flickered and blinked as people hastened to endeavour coverage from the chilly, dense raindrops. The vehicles remained motionless as people traversed from one place to another. An earthy fragrance developed as the water infused with the soil. It was not entirely a pleasant scent.

Murky mists slithered along the streets like a den of snakes, obscuring our vision. During the nights, it only grew more overelaborate and boisterous. Vehicles stood in long lines, with inpatient drivers urging to proceed. Trains remained full with little to no room left. It rained every day; the sight of the sun seemed impracticable. The ocean produced vigorous waves, plenty to engulf smaller ships.

Tables turned when the "Sunshine girl" rose. A young female teen with dark black hair, along with a pure smile and blue crystal eyes. Her name was Hina Ameno; she was held liable for giving sunlight to the city of Kabukicho. Her job was to provide a day of daylight, which would originate in a noble sacrifice. Hodaka Morishima partnered her, a young male teen, with also dark hair among wide eyes. Hina's brother also came with them, a kid that was quite popular among girls his age. They had a purpose of obtaining money and live a typical life, as they were all outcasts. They constantly avoided the police; and avoiding letting others know their situation.

They wandered unitedly, waiting for people to grant them a day of daylight. When they do find someone, Hina closes her eyes and prays to clear the sky. A golden blinding beam would appear penetrating within the thick churlish clouds, growing larger by the second eventually, erasing the clouds. Revealing the glorious presence of the Sun on the horizon. Everyone closing their umbrellas showing smiles that led up to their ears. Peoples faces portrayed joy, peace and relief. Acknowledging Hina for her doings as families can go back outside; to experience the long-awaited triumph of sunny weather.

The dark churlish clouds substituted with pure, white peaceful fluffy clouds. It possessed a sense of joy and delight. Tranquil waters from the ocean felt similar to the harmony of the city. Enthusiastic children finally able to play outside and enjoy the warmth of the sunshine. Whilst, all of them knew that this was only for a day of happiness. Yet they; did not hinder from savouring a day of delight.

The following day, everything appeared back to normal. Ominous clouds, bustling streets all of it came back in a matter of seconds. People changed from joyfulness to blank expressions. Children returned, stuck in their homes waiting for the next day they would get to play outside. Though they didn't have to wait long as Hina and the others would provide another day of sunlight. It was a sleepless town indeed.
