I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.
As we finish our term, our last piece of work is working on Live Aid. Live Aid was a concert that was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure; to raise money for famine relief in African nations. Two different concerts were held with the same objective; one was located at the Wembley Stadium and the other at John F. Kenndy Stadium.
This is an example of a song that was played in one of the concerts.
I believe that the reason Band Aid chose this song for their performance because the song premised that it's Christmas time. However, they also acknowledged those countries that normally doesn't snow, such as Africa. The words snow on Christmas; represents the joy of the holiday season. Basically, Band Aid was saying that some people lack this joy.
Is this a form of protest? No, I don't think that this is form of protest but instead a message was given.
Do you think one person could start a similar concert? Yes, I think that anyone could start a similar concert with enough encouragement and passion. Along with enough help to prepare; as Live Aid took 10 weeks to organise.
Favourite song from concert:
How are music and musicians significant today? Music and musicians has a big impact to our society; such as cultural impacts, moral impacts and emotional impacts. Musicians puts messages within their songs to able others to listen to their message through their songs.
Hello Vann, I enjoyed learning more about Live Aid of 1985. The lay out of the blog post is well thought out. In which first you have mentioned the before Live Aid; stating that it was planned by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. Then during the concert as well as in the present where you have mentioned about the musicians today. I have a question about you last statement, do you have any musicians in mind that has created a big impact in this generation?
Comments Please structure your comments as follows: Positive - Something done well Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say Helpful - Give some ideas for next time or Ask a question you want to know more about
